Bodenheimer Plumbing Services, Winston-Salem

Serving Winston-Salem, North Carolina and surrounding areas for more than 90 years, Bodenheimer Plumbing Services, Inc. has always been a family-focused business. It traces its roots to the Ernest Bodenheimer pump shop in the 1930s. Ernest was not only a pump retailer and installer, but also an inventor. He developed the “Bodenheimer Pump”, yes that’s with an “a” because a mistake was made in the casting. During the Depression, the $25 to recast the mold was better spent on his family of 9 than to correct a spelling mistake.

Through the years, Bodenheimer Pump expanded its services to include plumbing and steam heat. During this time, Ernest’s son, Bud, joined the business, after spending 4 years in the Air Force. They worked together until Ernest’s death in 1969, at which time Bud went to work for the Bahnson Company. While with the Bahnson Company, Bud managed the installation of multi-million dollar mechanical and plumbing systems in the Textile, Pharmaceutical, and Power Generation industries. But Bud’s heart remained at the plumbing shop.
